This assignment will essentially be a draft of the first half of your final paper. This is where you will establish the facts of the organization.
Briefly identify the organization. What is its name? What sector does it occupy? What does it do?
Critique the organization’s strategic plan,
2. Does the organization or agency have a strategic plan?
3. Are all basic elements of the strategic plan accounted for? Are there additional elements present?
4. Are the elements clear to the reader? If so, do you feel confident you could explain that organization to a member of the general public? If not, what is unclear?
Provide a breakdown of the organization’s logic model. This should follow directly from the organization’s strategic plan. What are the organization’s outputs and outcomes (link them with elements of the organization’s stated strategy)? How does the organization say it achieves them?
What is the organization’s structure? Provide an Org Chart. If one exists already, share it (with credit). If one does not exist, make one (to the best of your ability, note areas where the information just isn’t available).
Identify something about the organization that can be improved. This is very open for interpretation, what is important here is the reasoning you provide. What method (from this unit) did you use to identify the problem? Is there a problem with strategy? Is the organization not meeting target outputs? Are the outcomes not matching projected targets? Maybe the logic model is breaking down. Maybe the employees aren’t performing. Maybe the strategy was never that clear. Whatever you identify, make a clear case for it using concepts from this course.
