At the end of each module, you will be expected to answer the following questions in Yellowdig. You can number your answers 1-4 or use the question itself as a header to each answer.
What was the most challenging part of this week’s material for you?
This answer should take a couple of paragraphs and be specific. Explain why something was challenging for you.
For example, this could be a concept that was most difficult to understand, an idea that is new and hard to believe, information that feels contradictory to your beliefs and perceptions, an idea that contradicts your own understanding of something.
What was the most interesting part of this week’s material for you?
This answer should take a couple of paragraphs and be specific. Explain why something was interesting to you.
For example: Was there something you read or watched that spiked your curiosity and you want to learn more? Was there something you read that you already knew about and were glad to see more information or a different take on it? Was there a concept that you had believed in before but couldn’t put to words? Did something open your eyes to another perspective?
In what ways can you make this week’s material actionable in your social work practice?
This should take at least a paragraph and be specific. Do not just state, you will ‘pay attention’ to something or you ‘will be aware of’ something. Consider, talking about why you will reflect further on something and who you will discuss that reflection with, talk about what you will do if you are aware of something and why that matters, how will you know you made something actionable, etc.
For example, by learning more about ethnocentrism, when you think someone is doing something ‘wrong’ or ‘right,’ will you examine that belief from the bird’s eye view to see if it is ethnocentric and how that influences your interaction with the person, both positively and negatively. Then, what adjustments will you make?
What is one question you have for your peers about this week’s material?
Your question must include detail, not just a one sentence question. Consider explaining why you are asking the question, what your answer to the question might be, what you hope to learn from your peers.
This is where you create dialogue between you and your peers, so ask questions that are helpful, interesting, provocative, engaging, that you would ask in person, etc.
