Write a short paragraph describing your primary source research plan, whether you plan to interview someone (who?) or survey a group (how will you reach them?) and share the information you hope to glean from the interview or survey. If you don’t have a plan, share that instead and I can help you come up with someone to interview or to survey.
List 1-2 questions you plan to ask in the interview or statements you plan to include in the survey.
As a reminder, your interview should lead to at least one quote for the essay and your survey should lead to at least one % for the essay.
Whether you conduct a survey or an interview, the first person signal phrase that will say something like In a recent interview I conducted with Leonard Garza, a pharmacy director in Dallas, is KEY. That signal phrase will help you appeal to ethos by indicating a commitment to the topic and your research.
Also, create a Works Cited entry and a parenthetical citation for your primary source, whether it will be an interview you conduct or a survey you conduct, and submit here for review.
MLA documentation pro tip: if it’s an interview, you’ll cite using the interviewee’s name. If it’s a survey, you’ll use yours, e.g.
Garza, Leonard. Personal interview. 23 June 1986.
Hill, Erin. “Recycling” survey. 14-16 Mar. 2004.
*Exploratory Essay is essay #1 that I wrote last time, and I attached it together because it is related to writing this Research Proposal Essay.*
