The purpose of this discussion is to apply the information you’ve gained from the course resources on the importance of the Lewis and Clark expedition.

For this discussion, review your readings and sources for Unit 7 and read the following scenario carefully. Feel free to do research outside the course if you’d like other points of view.
According to historian James Ronda, embarking on the Lewis and Clark expedition was like stepping off the end of the earth. There were so many unknowns, and the Louisiana Territory was immense. You are a traveler accompanying Meriwether Lewis and William Clark as part of the US Corp of Discovery, the group responsible for gathering ecological data and establishing trade and diplomatic relations with the Native American nations found between the Missouri River and the Pacific Ocean. For this discussion, please take ONE of the following tasks and explain in detail what the task entails, two problems you would face while completing that task, and offer possible solutions to those problems.
Record the various species of plants and animals found along the way.
Develop diplomatic relations with the Native American nations along the way, asserting the United States as sovereign over the land.
Record geographic information and create maps
As with the previous assignments, try to put yourself in the shoes of someone in the past. Think about what life was like during the 1800s.
