As a college school counselor, the administration has requested your assistance

As a college school counselor, the administration has requested your assistance with a committee examining a problem described in a large number of student complaints. During peak school hours, students are required to “roam” the parking lot looking for an open parking space. Sometimes drivers must park across the street or down the street. The complaints have reached the administrative level, and a committee has been selected to examine the problem. You have been chosen to act as a “consultant” to move the committee forward. They are “stuck” and cannot seem to move beyond a few issues:
Students do not like to schedule early classes, causing a problem during the peak hours of 9:30 a.m to 11:30 a.m. Students also prefer a light schedule in the afternoon to allow time for part-time jobs. To decrease the parking dilemma, more classes must be scheduled before 9:30 a.m. or after 1:00 p.m.
Additional parking spaces are available only by purchasing additional property. The increased costs must be transferred to the student by the use of increased parking passes and fees. Very few people are in favor of increased costs.
Although many commuter college campuses have created off-site parking requiring longer walks to class, the local students do not want off-site parking.
The committee members, hearing the complaints of the students, have become aggravated and irritated with the slow process, and with each other. Utilizing techniques presented in this class, other assigned readings, and videos, including listening skills and counseling models, prepare a 750 word summary of the process you will use to “consult” with the committee. You are not there to “come up with ideas,” rather, assist the committee to move forward and implement a plan. Also keep in mind an extremely limited budget. Successful models will not likely include a large expenditure.
