2 – IDENTIFY the character or role that is stereotyped. (This media stereotype may be positive or negative, but is essentially a one-dimensional character.) For example: “dumb blonde”. Explain what aspect or tendencies of this character have been exaggerated, to the exclusion of others. (i.e. physical appearance, behaviors, speech etc.).
3 – REPLY: WHY DID YOU PERSONALLY CHOOSE THIS FILM TO DISCUSS?
Hint: For full credit, you should discuss how past media stereotypes may have influenced society, or you personally. For example, after watching the stereotyped character, how did YOU feel about him/her? Admiration, fear, disgust, amusement …? You should also consider or discuss what, if any, media stereotypes exist today.
