Please use the checklist here to make sure that your speech meets the expectation (a minimum of 3 credible sources, 5-7 minutes):
Does your introduction:
Get the attention of your audience?
Reveal your topic?
Explain the importance and/or relevance of your topic?
State your thesis?
Preview the body/main points?
Represent 10% to 20% of your speech?
Does the body of your speech:
Contain separate and clear main points?
Use the same pattern of wording for each point?
Provide balanced coverage for each main point?
Contain adequate supporting material for each main point (logos, ethos, and pathos)?
Move in a logical sequence? What organizational pattern did you use?
Define unfamiliar terminology?
Contain transitions that adequately tie your speech together?
Does your conclusion:
End with a bang?
Consist of no more than 10% to 20% of your speech?
Signal the end of your speech?
Reinforce the central idea?
Summarize your main points?
If visual aids are used:
Are they simple and attractive enough (6×6 no more than 36 words per slide)?
Are they large enough to be seen by the entire audience?
Are they clear and concise?
Have you practiced with them?
