The Second portfolio has two parts:
Identify Academic Strategies
Math/English Placement
Part One- Identify Academic Strategies
Generate a list of 3-5 study/work practices you would like to try this quarter. Choose practices that are new to you and are likely to help you grow.
Next to each practice you listed, identify the overarching category: note-taking, reading comprehension, test-taking, problem-solving, procrastination, time management/planning, writing, studying/remembering, research, or other.
After your list of strategies, write a short reflection 200-300 words where you identify at least one new practice you can employ in your classes this quarter include which classes, reflect how you will use these practices and why you think this practice will help you.
Submit your list and reflection to this Canvas assignment as a text entry or Word document. Put you plans into action, I will follow up on on this activity in Portfolio Four.
Part Two- Math and English Placements
In order to determine what courses you might need to take at Bellevue College as you progress toward your educational goal, an important first step is to complete your English and Math placement. Usually, this is done via an assessment test that you can do online or in person. Other ways to complete placementLinks to an external site.. include submitting high school or college transcripts or to transfer in credits or test scores from other institutions. For example, you may use AP/IB tests from high school to place into the appropriate English or Math courses or you may transfer in such courses that meet requirements.
Only if needed, you may make an appointment to take the placement tests at home or at Placement and Testing Services in U114. Most students will have completed this process before enrolling at the college, but in case you have not, it is important to complete this step before continuing on to other assignments in the course. Please note that it may take a few days to a week for Placement and Testing services to process your request.
