Library assignment The objective for the library exercises is to build on the basic research skills we discussed in GS2080/GS1850 and build on them meet more complex and scholarly research needs. -You may look at: ATLA, Academic Search or Jstor for your scholarly articles for this course. -Post your Thesis Statement or Thesis Questions into a Word Document. -Be able to identify at least 3 keywords from that Thesis Statement to apply to the advance search box in the ATLA database. -Apply two keywords to a Library database advance search -Use limiters to narrow the database search results to: current and scholarly articles. -Evaluate the library database search results to locate TWO scholarly articles that are relevant to your topic and support your research thesis. -If you are working with a comparison/contrast question in your thesis (Hindu vs Islamic) then be open and prepared to search each main topic separately and find articles for both. IE: search one: “Hindu” and Death” Search two: “Islam” and Death” You will often NOT find the perfect article that has already compared your two topics and you will need to open to research each separately and then you compare the scholarly work to find the connections/comparisons. POST: Thesis statement or working research question. APA citations from TWO scholarly journal articles found on a library database.
