Summarize the readings on Social Security.  Be sure to describe the ‘evolution’ of social policies to ensure the well-being (or perhaps, just survival) of vulnerable members of the society, particularly the elderly. Describe the ways that FDR’s ‘New Deal’ programs were structured in ways that systematically discriminated against people of color. Finally, suggest changes to current ‘social security’ programs that would better address the needs of the elderly, now and in decades to come.
