This assignment requires you to write an essay pertaining to any of the thematic areas covered in this course. Your topic cannot be the same as your critical commentary assignment and the essay must be eight (8) double-spaced pages including bibliographic information. You need to select a piece of African Popular Culture that you will be reviewing and analyzing as the centrepiece of your Fall paper. Once you have selected your African Popular Content, your film, your book, content creator, musician, artist etc.
Overall, you have to basically pick a african cultural artifact (song, novel, short story, etc.) Pick something that will be the centre of your analysis. Analyze what you have chosen, why did you choose it, what makes it african and connect it to some of the readings (I will attach the readings), First half of the paper should be about why you did you pick what you did and what did you like about it and what makes it african etc, second half should connect it to the course (readings).
