The Mental Illness or Developmental Disorder Presentation is an individual project. The project is divided into three milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final presentations. The final presentation will be submitted in Module 7.
Instructions
As an individual, you will select a mental illness or developmental disorder, and creating an informational presentation. Your final presentation will be 5–6 minutes long with 12–14 presentation slides (including a title page and a reference list).
Your presentation will include the following content about the mental illness or developmental disorder selected.

Effect on day-to-day function
Etiology (Who is likely to get this disorder? Age, gender, ethnicity, risk factors, etc.)
Typical age of onset
Prognosis (What is thought to be happening in the brain of the individual of the disorder?)

What health care providers should keep in mind when working with patients with this mental illness or disorder

Overview
The first step of your presentation is to select a mental illness or developmental disorder to use for your presentation. To select a topic, you will conduct research and select three options you would like to present. After the three options are submitted, your instructor will make the final selection and assign a topic to each student.Instructions

Provide a brief overview of each topic and provide two references for each selection.

Overview
Now that you have completed your research and outline, develop a slide presentation to use to share the information you have learned about your topic. Your PowerPoint slides and presentation are due in the next module. Allow enough time to complete the PowerPoint slides and record the presentation.Instructions
Step 1: Complete your PowerPoint presentation. Your presentation should include the following:Use 12–14 slides to highlight the content required for your mental illness or developmental disorder. Use your outline as a guide.
Add information in a bulleted format–do not write paragraphs of content on your slides. Include visuals when appropriate.
Slide 1 should include your name, the mental illness or developmental disorder researched, and the link to the recorded presentation (to be added after the presentation).
A citation slide at the end with all resources cited using APA (7th ed.) format.
Step 2: Record your presentation.Make sure to practice your presentation prior to recording. Recording your presentation should be done using Zoom. When you are ready to present, select “Record” and begin your presentation. Ensure that you are sharing your PowerPoint presentation on the screen and that you can be seen on camera. Remember to leave sufficient time to finalize and practice your presentation. Once you have completed your presentation, stop recording. A video file will be saved to the local location selected.
