Does the problem statement directly connect to the organization’s mission statement?
Does the statement explain how the organization, given its size and resources, can address the problem in a meaningful way?
Is the problem statement adequately supported by solid and reputable quantitative and qualitative data on the nature, size, and scope of the need to be addressed?

Evidence of Problem
Impact If Problems Resolved?
Who is in need (people, animals, land, and so forth)?
Lakeshore Humane Society, and the holes Animals of Chautauqua county
What is the problem? (Get specific)
The problem is high number of animals wandering the streets of Chautauqua county, and also finding the means to hold more animals and proper care within the location of the shelter.
What evidence do you have to support your claim?
The Data provided that can support this claim is the approximate statistical data of homeless cats and dogs in the U.S and per state. The U.s has over 70 million stray animals each year and in New York state that number is roughly about 1 million.
What will occur if the needs are met? What will be different—and how?
There would be more “no kill shelters” leading the number of stray animals to have homes. Also taking more stray animals off the street and causing less harm to them.
Where are they? (General: city/state; and specific: neighborhood, geography)
Located in Western New York of North Chautauqua, Dunkirk NY
Why does this problem exist?
The problem may exist because of the increase of unwanted animals put out of homes and also the expenses of tools, food, and medicine, and the environment that is provided to take care of these animals.
How is the problem linked to your organization?
My organization, lakeshore Humane society is linked with the problems because they are an animal shelter, but also want to expand and create a solution to getting animals off the street. That is with improving the programs they have to benefit the lives of these animals.
When is the problem evident? The problem is year-round when trying to take in animals from of the streets and giving them the proper care and put into a new and healthy home.
