As I stepped inside of the classroom in my new elementary school, all around me was the tide of indecipherable voices from the unknown language that felt like a jigsaw puzzle beckoning to be put together. Determined to overcome the challenge head on, I picked up a stack of Post-It notes to jot down unfamiliar words, along with their Turkish translations, my mother tongue. This method of practicing English helped me build the solid foundation of my new language. Amidst the journey of solving the language puzzle, I would inevitably get distracted and doodle on my Post-It notes. It didn’t take me long to discover that I could make a unique animation by drawing sequential figures on each note, frame by frame. I was truly amazed by what I could create with just my hands, a pencil, and an eraser. I knew it would be foolish for me to stop progressing, so I kept going and added new techniques into my drawing such as shading and understanding the geometry of shadows, glares, and highlights. Drawing to me felt like revealing a long-forgotten book that had been gathering dust on the top shelf, waiting for its discovery. Motivated by my fascination in drawing and my existing interest in cars, I decided to delve deeper into my newly found passion by downloading a drawing app that provided detailed, step by step instructions to accurately draw cars. Whether it be the sporty look of a sports car or the aggressive look of an offroad car, I have always had a deep interest in the different designs of cars, in any shape or form. To me, cars are not just about the comfort and the luxury they offer, but the beauty of all the design and engineering that goes into creating such a wonderful machine.

With the purpose of expanding my abilities in the field, i started to look around for possible steps I could take to improve. I found that my school was offering Computer-Aided Design (CAD) classes, which was perfect for me to gain experience with the general concepts of design and get used to designing thing on CAD. I got experience on how to use essential softwares like AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.

Here is additional information on me:

I am an immigrant from Turkey. I came to America in 2016 in 5th grade. I didnt know any english. I had a lit of trouble trying to fit in. Drawing was kind of my coping mechanism to the loneliness. I dont want the essay to focus too much on my struggles with immigration. I want it to focus more on me finding the passion for design. I also want you to mention doing research on design of cars and how I wanted to apply my new knowledge to in real life. And I figured that I could do this by designing a 3-D model of a Go-Kart. Though I did not make the design yet I am still researching. You can make up small things here and there (nothing too big.)
