DO NOT USE OUTSIDE SOURCES (only the three poems I have attached)
You will examine 3 poems and writing multiple paragraphs for each.
For each poem (you will repeat this format three times for each) you will use this format:
Paragraph 1- write a 1-2 sentence summary of the poem in your own words
Paragraph 2- Identify the tone of the text in 1-2 words. Provide a line from the text that uses that tone.
Paragraph 3- Identify two figurative languages used. Provide the line from the text that uses them for each.
Paragraph 4- explain why the author wrote the text
Paragraph 5- Write one sentence that expresses the lesson the text is meant to teach/the theme of the poem
Paragraph 6- Determine the allusion used and answer the question of how does that enhance the poem and how deeply does the poem use that allusion.
Paragraph 7- Write a paragraph that compares the similarities between the 3 poems and another paragraph that examines the differences. Consider the following points in your comparison: themes, tone, figurative language, author’s purpose, and the depth/effect of the allusion in the poem.
