Part1
In the helping professions it is important to not only understand how learning takes place, but we must also understand how to apply the principles of learning to help people deal with problems they are experiencing as well as to help a community make needed improvements. Identify a social problem in your own community and explain how it could be addressed by applying one or a combination of the learning principles that have been covered in this course.
Part 2 Respond to two peers
peers 1 Although I live in a smaller town that’s often overlooked, it is still faced with the same social problems you may see in bigger cities. When I thought about it I came up with quite a few including: unemployment; child abuse and neglect; crime; racism; flaws in our education system and even discrimination. Solutions for limiting a stoping child abuse and neglect include, as a community offering simple support for children and even parents would be start in preventing and reducing child abuse. If you see or believe a child is being abused or neglected, speak out. Other ways would be to offer extra after school programs, along with programs providing children with free snacks or food. It was difficult to come up with solutions to help those in the community who are struggling with substance abuse. One way would be to provide a cost effective prevention and treatment approach. Or even provide a non judgemental ear to listen. Also putting in prevention policies in the workplace environment.
(Alyssa, 2022) Operant conditioning acknowledges that drugs produce a form what’s thought to be pleasure and therefore causing individuals to misuse them. Drugs activate the brain reward system or also known as dopamine. This initially tells the brain the substance is causing a positive impact. Users will become addicted to this and begin relying on relieving pain or feelings such as anxiety and stress. The method of the conditioning is meant so negative and positive reinforcement can team up during self-reflection. Operant conditioning takes place after every use which ends up building up the users tolerance. In return requires the user to acquire high amounts of the substance and the body becomes dependent on the substances.Thats Withdrawal symptoms are experienced and come into play initially producing negative symptoms as a result ends up creating negative reinforcement. The method is to assess the behavior during this cause-and-effect period and determine the reward and punishment system. (Alyssa, 2022)
It can also play a benefical role in our educational system and classrooms , teachers can use positive reinforcement to increase the likelihood of desirable behaviors. By praising a student for their participation in class we can then encourage them to continue participating. Which is important because in my community students are testing below grade level, acting out, and refusing to work. Making school a positive learning environment can produce a positive outcome along with managing behaviors and situations. We want to begin seeing students behave in acceptable ways and have an understanding of class’s rules and expectations. By using positive rewards or negative consequences to increase the desired actions we begin decreasing the unwanted ones. Hopefully seeing improvement in grades, behaviors and motivation.

Peers 2 In the community that I live in, which is a densly populated big city, a big problem is that people throw trash on the streets and in parks. This makes our neighborhood look messy and isn’t good for the environment. We can fix this
issue by using two methods that help people learn how to do the right thing. We can encourage people to throw their trash in the right places, like trash cans, by giving them prizes or little rewards. So, if you clean up your trash, you
might get a few cents on the dollar similar to how you would exchange aluminium cans for currency. Another way is to show people how to do it the right way. We can have leaders in our community, like teachers or local known figures,
lead by example. They can pick up trash and throw it in the right places and make calls for action for the community to do the same. When people see these respected people doing it, they think that they should do it too. We can also teach
everyone why it’s important to keep our community clean and show them how other places fixed this problem. Educational campaigns and workshops can provide information on the environmental and social consequences of littering,
showing real-life examples of how other communities have successfully addressed the issue. This information can be reinforced through public service announcements, social media, and community meetings, making it readily available
for everyone. By combining operant conditioning and observational learning, a community can effectively address the issue of littering and improper waste disposal, which will over time make my local community safer, cleaner, and
much more habitable for things like the natural wildlife that live here. Taking care of where you live is important, especially for the future generations that will be here later.

PART3
This week you will submit an evaluation of the effectiveness of your behavior modification program. Your evaluation should be written in a 4-6 page paper (including your graph or chart) that contains the following:
Functional analysis of the target behavior to explain the purpose or motive of the original behavior by discussing the following:
Define the behavior in the context that the behavior is used
The antecedent or trigger related to the behavior
The consequences of the behavior that help to maintain this behavior
A graph that indicates the baseline behavior during the first data collection phase as well as the data collected during the treatment phase and an overall assessment of level of success of your program (of if your program is still in progress you should report the changes that have been made up until this point).
A discussion of the effectiveness of your modification plan, techniques that were used, and method of data recording and analysis that you used.
A discussion of what changes you might make to your behavior modification program if you were to continue to attempt to change this behavior.
