This assignment involves watching the TED talk linked below and writing (1) a summary of the talk and (2) your reaction to the talk. Once you’re done watching the video, write your paper in a Word doc.
Provide a summary of the video. Be sure to include:
A brief overview of any background information
The main points discussed
What are the experiments described in the talk?
What is the overall message?
Write down your thoughts and reactions to the video.
How interesting was the topic?
Do you “buy” what the speaker was “selling”? In other words, is their research or opinion well-grounded and believable?
Were there any weaknesses in the talk? Things that didn’t make sense or that you disagree with–or that you know to be false?
How can you personally use the information in the video?
Each section (the summary and reactions) should be at least a half page; your paper should be around 1-2 pages overall (I don’t care if it’s more or fewer pages so long as you adequately cover everything). If it’s less than 1 page, you didn’t think enough about the video–watch it again! Provide enough detail in the summary that tells me you understood the talk, but not so much that you’re going over every little thing. In your reaction section, provide responses that tell me you thought critically about the talk and its message.
