– Using the readings and the handouts, you will assess an infant, toddler or preschool classroom literacy environment. (I got assigned to a preschool)
– You will make a floor plan of your placement classroom the way it is now or include a link of a video tour or your classroom. Include a minimum of 4 specific areas. (I already did this part)
– Write a brief narrative (3 pages) to accompany the floor plan/video tour to explain where literacy is occurring and where it is lacking. Reference to readings and theory to justify your descriiption.
– You will then make a second-floor plan of your classroom as an ideal literacy environment.
– Write an accompanying brief narrative (3 pages) to explain the changes you made, with a significant focus on the literacy center. Be sure to include supplies or equipment that would be necessary to make the room an ideal literacy environment. Reference to readings and theory to justify your descriiption.
– Be sure to include supplies or equipment that would be necessary to make the room an ideal literacy environment that is culturally responsive and supports the anti-racist curriculum.
– Provide support for your changes by referencing readings and in-class discussions.
