This short paper reflects on the readings, themes, lectures, in-class discussions and resources covered during the first part of this course. Integrate your personal experience, observations, and analysis with the larger themes of Spoken word culture. Consider your thoughts on how Spoken Word impacts society, and how the personal, social, cultural and political affect Spoken Word. Connect the role of oral culture in your own life, identity(ies), backgrounds or history, and what you are discovering/questioning about Spoken Word and performance. Use specific examples and references.
The Reflection paper should use essay structure, and be 1000 to 1250 words (approx. 5 double spaced pages). Include a complete bibliography of all references.
The Reflection Paper is assessed based on the following criteria:
1. Content & Analysis 2. Connections to references & integration of course readings /resources 3. Writing style, clarity & communication 4. Format & grammar 5. Bibliography of resources & references cited
