Students must critique ONE published psychometric instrument using the Buros Mental Measurements Yearbook guidelines for reviewers. For example, WAIS-IV, TOMAL 2, STANFORD-BINET 5, or PEABODY. State which instrument the testing is used for with resource support.
Papers should follow the organizational requirements of the MMY:
(a) Name of Test
(b) Test Descriiption/Overview
(c) Purpose
(d) Test Publisher
(e) Construction Methodology
(f) Evidence of Reliability
(g) Evidence of Validity
(h) Pros of the test according to Reviewers
(i) Cons of the test according to Reviewers
(j) Applications
(k) Clinical/Diagnostic Usefulness.
Reviews should draw on the theoretical and empirical literature evaluating the reliability, validity, and clinical applications of the instrument. Literature cited for the paper should be drawn from peer-reviewed journals or scholarly books. Other sources are acceptable as supplementary material. The paper should follow APA style, including references (at least 12). The paper should be double-spaced, Times New Roman 12, and between 3000-3500 words in length, no longer than 15 pages in length.
This paper must demonstrate the student’s ability to analyze relevant psychology literature and the student’s ability to make judgments about the relevance of the subject matter to counseling psychology.
