PROMPT:
Write a letter to Grace M. Cho, the author of Tastes like War. In this letter, do three things: 1) reflect on how reading Cho’s memoir impacted your understandings of mental illness, food, immigration, racism, and survival
2) incorporate one outside source into your letter (outside source can be an academic article, a novel, poetry, an artwork, a film, a television show, recipes, a website, or an Instagram, TikTok, or Twitter post.
3) pose a question or series of questions to the author.
Some things ti include for the reflection mentioned in #1:
-Mental health can be impacted by one’s experiences, the more severe stresses and events (negative) you face, the more likely you are to get a mental illness
-Immigration and racism go hand to hand, having to immigrate almost always results to having to deal with some form of racism
