To understand the purpose and utility of conducting a literature review when considering
a problem to be solved
2. To demonstrate the process of conducting a literature review
Procedures
1. Refer to the problem that you explained in our online discussion.
2. Use digital means to identify at least 10 articles, peer-reviewed papers, and/or research
studies (doctoral dissertations are acceptable) that talk about the problem. Resources can
include the ERIC database, Montclair Library, etc. The information you obtain should
flesh out the problem you identified.
3. Using a Microsoft Word file or Google Doc, list these references on a page of your
document (you can decide where to list the references) using APA format. You can refer
to the following website for guidance:
https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/
4. In two pages, write the following:
A. One paragraph overview of the identified problem (this should be based on what
you wrote in the discussion thread)
B. One to two-sentence summaries of each of the 10 items of literature (you should
have read the documents in order to be able to summarize them)
C. One paragraph explanation of how the action research you are going to conduct
later in the course may expand on the literature (i.e., add new ideas or fill in the
“holes” not filled by the research you read).
