Emergency Management Plan Evaluation
Students will evaluate an Emergency Management Plan (School, Agency, VR/VA office).
The Interview:
Students will interview a school counselor, clinical mental health counselor, or clinical rehabilitation (depending on candidates concentration) who participates in a crisis management plan and discuss the operation of the school, agency, or facility emergency management plan and roles and responsibilities of the counselor during crises, disasters, and other trauma causing events.
Interview Report:
Following the interview, students should submit a 4 to 6-page report which includes a summary of the interview. In this report, students will also evaluate the school’s Emergency Management Plan, Agency Emergency Management Plan or Facility Emergency Management Plan. The students’ evaluation should include the following:
Impact of the crises, emergencies, and/or disasters on individuals served,
The skills needed for crisis intervention,
The counselors’ roles and responsibilities as members of an interdisciplinary emergency management response team,
The strategies for interagency/inter-organization collaboration and communication, and
Information about school and/or community collaboration models for crisis/disaster preparedness and response
The interview and report will be submitted as the Emergency Management Plan evaluation.
