In a single sentence (or, two sentences maximum!), describe Jordan’s main claim. Your post for “Part I” of this week’s discussion, will only be one sentence long (or two max). However, it will probably take quite some time to come up with this sentence because you’ll need to choose every word that you use very carefully. You are trying to distill Jordan’s entire essay down into a single, elegant and powerful statement. To do this, it may be helpful to use one of the suggested phrases from section 3.11 of the textbook, such as “Jordan argues that…” “Jordan advocates for…” “Jordan insists that…” “Jordan affirms the value of…” etc.
Part II. In section 3.2, the textbook describes 3 different types of claims that authors often make: claims of value, claims of fact, and claims of policy. In your own words, try to describe the difference between these 3 types of claims. Now, look back at the statement of Jordan’s main claim that you wrote for Part I of this post.
