In a 6-8 page essay, address the following:
Introduction: This should include your thesis and a roadmap to your paper. Tell the reader what you are going to do in this paper. Writing an introduction is an important skill and also helps your reader know what to look for in the paper. The reader should not have to guess your intent.
Information (e.g., demographics, statistics, religion, culture, history, politics, social status, economic status) about the group that you presented on in this unit. It is expected that some of this section might come from your presentation.
Explanation of 2-3 social justice issues this group experiences. Additional sources may be necessary in this section, so this would be an ideal section to include one or some of your four peer-reviewed references.
Solutions to the social justice issues addressed in the former section. Additional sources are necessary in this section as well.
Discussion (reflection/analysis) and conclusion: You can combine the discussion and conclusion, or you can split this into a discussion section and a conclusion section. The conclusion is a cohesive wrap-up of the paper, restating the main points but without repeating exactly what you have already.
Reflection: Tell your reader about your experience with the topic(s)/issue(s) addressed in the paper (what has been your relationship to this issue/group?).
Analysis: Choose 1-2 of the following to include in your analysis.
Implications of what you have found in your research
Similarities or differences between what you learned and other readings in this class
Similarities or differences between what you learned in your research and readings in other classes
Links between the material you address and current events in the news
Your ideas about moving forward
References: A references page that lists your supporting material. The course textbook is one of your required sources. In addition, you must have four other peer-reviewed references. You may also include other references that are not peer-reviewed, such as websites, government reports, NGO websites, etc., but they will be supplements to the textbook and your four peer-reviewed (scholarly) references.
Your essay should be in APA format; refer to the APA Guides on the Instructor Guidelines page for more information on APA style. The word count excludes the cover page and the references page.
You must have five scholarly sources; the book counts as one, so find four additional peer-reviewed sources to include.
