my proposal: The song and music video to “The Girl In a Country Song” by Maddie and Tae describes the treatment of women in country music. This song and music video are criticizing the way society represents women. In the video we see men dressed as women and are mimicking how women are often sexually exploited. The ladies can be considered stakeholders because they work within the music industry. This builds credibility because the singers have experience working within the music industry, and have been the women that are mimicking in their videos. Some important elements that are present within the song are linguistics and visuals. They often make many metaphorical and satire comments, which emphasize how foolishly society represents women. Another element that is very prominent in the music video are the visulas. Visually, the music video delivers the message in which women are overly sexualized using irony, having men dressed and act like women. Also, the overall colors being shown in the video are bright and pink. The colors are stereotypical because women are often taught to like these colors. The colors are what society has told women that they need to enjoy because it represents femininity.
