1). Clearly state your question about children’s motivation to learn. Explain the terms that you use and identify any specifics of what you plan to research (e.g., age of children, learning context, etc.). What diversity issue(s) will you be addressing? I

2). Explain why this question is developmentally significant for children. Don’t answer your question about motivation. Instead provide evidence-based information to support why this is question is important to ask (e.g., How many children are affected in this situation? What are the negative effects associated with not intervening?, etc.). You should have at least two current credible sources to support your justification.

3). Identify specific possible settings to observe or experts you can interview which would allow you to see the research literature in practice. Interviewees should be the equivalent of a program director. Explain how the choices are a clear match to your research question.
