There are 4 parts to this assignment.
Part 1: Workview
A workview is how you describe work. Thus, you must answer some questions honestly in order to determine what you define as work. This should not be influenced by your peers, partners, or family but rather as the honest iteration of how you would define it. You should think about and answer the following questions.
What is work for?
Why do you work?
Does work need to be “good”; why or why not?
What makes work “good”?
How does work relate to the individual, others, and society?
What role does money play in work?
Does experience, growth, and fulfillment have anything to do with work? If yes, what roles do they play?
MY WORK IS “CARDIAC PERFUSIONIST” IN HEALTH CARE
Part 2: Lifeview
A lifeview is your ideas about the world and how it works. This is what gives your person, soul, etc. a sense of purpose or meaning. What makes your life feel valuable? Thus, you must answer some questions honestly in order to determine what you define as a meaningful life. This should not be influenced by your peers, partners, or family but rather as the honest iteration of how you would define it. You should think about and answer the following questions.
Why are you here?
What is the meaning or purpose of life?
Where do the family, country, and the rest of the world fit in?
What is good, what is evil?
What is meaningful for you, what so far has made you feel a sense of purpose or value?
What do you feel are the roles of joy, sorrow, justice, injustice, love, peace, and strife in life?
Part 3: True North
Now, it’s time to integrate both of these views into a compass so that you can identify your “true north.”
You should think about and answer the following questions.
Where do both views complement each other? Explain.
Where do both views differ? Explain.
Does one drive the other? How.
Part 4: Thinking back…
This one is just one question! You should think about and answer the following question.
Now that you have identified these views, what is a time you can remember that a job/internship/professional or volunteer experience didn’t work out because your compass wasn’t pointing north? Share this experience and explain how it wasn’t in alignment with your compass.
