Your first content area paper is on Policing. You have a great deal of latitude on the topic of the paper as long as it meets a few criteria.
1.) Your paper should tie into a United States Supreme Court case.
2.) You must analyze a contemporary issue in modern day policing.
3.) You must describe the history of policing and the topic.
Each paper must confirm to APA Seventh Edition guidelines. This is a very strict requirement and can constitute a possible 20% deduction on the paper if not followed. The paper should be 10-12 pages in length. Your work must be in Times New Roman, 12-point font, and double spaced with 1” margins (default on most word processor programs is 1.25” so check!).
Incorporate seven (7) peer reviewed journal articles into the paper. In order to get points for incorporating these articles, you must discuss them. Simply citing the article along with your writing is NOT sufficient. These articles should be independent of the articles assigned. You may use books, other court cases, government reports, etc., but they do not count toward the seven (7). For your own protection, you may wish to incorporate more than 7 to be sure you cover this requirement. If you have a doubt or question, just ask. Students must use APA appropriate reference citations and sources must be listed in a reference page. The reference and title pages will not count toward the length requirement.
