analyzing a theme of “Modernity.” The Modern Age is characterized by several ideologies running throughout the course text. Please choose a topic that interests you to explore in more depth. Select a subject from the following themes of modernity (or you may pick one of your own with your instructor’s approval.) Your assignment will be to write a thesis driven historical essay primarily from assigned reading material and discussions.
Secularism and religion;
Rational thought and technological advancement;
Liberalism (liberties, human rights, and free trade);
The relationship between the individual and the state;
Nationalism; and
Feminism.
Your essay will be due during the final week of this course. It should be 3-4 pages, double spaced, standard font, standard margins. Please cite your sources. (nationalism and feminism)
