Report content (0-10 points)
Your report should have the following marked sections, like a typical scientific paper:
Abstract – write a brief executive summary of the entire report, 250-words max
Introduction and Methods – summarize the lab procedures as briefly as possible
Lab Results / Data – mentioned above, this includes your tables, graphs, and maybe descriptions from the lab; use of class data is mandatory; data can be reformatted to look better or save space
Conclusions – in this section you should explain the data from Results with specific conclusions:
Is alcohol a useful antiseptic? How can you tell?
Which disinfectants are effective against each species of bacteria? Which is best?
Which antibiotic drugs are effective against each species of bacteria? Which is best?
How much UV light is required to destroy the microbes we tested? Explain why
Data, drawings, and descriptions (0-10 points)
Possible Report Errors:
Abstract incomplete / abstract too long / abstract doesn’t explain results
Improperly written scientific names / repeated grammar errors / no use of paragraphs
Larger than 12-point text / More than double-spaced
Sections not labeled / Missing content / report longer than 4 pages (not including data sheets or this form)
