Attend an open Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous, Life Ring Meeting

Attend an open Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous, Life Ring Meeting, Refuge Recovery, or Celebrate Recovery meeting. Focus should be placed on what it was like to determine which meeting to attend, arriving at it, walking into the room, the overall response to the meeting and thoughts about how it might be experienced by and explained to a potential patient.
The thought paper should be 2-3 pages in length, double-spaced, and in Times New Roman 12-point font.
I wanted to attend an AA meeting to see what it’s like for people going through this and luckily, I asked my brother if I could go to his and he was so happy for me to attend. I felt good that I can learn and support him in this way. They Usually do it at Doyle park but because that was being used for camp for a month they rented out a a hall at Faith Lutheran Church in Santa Rosa.
So I attended Serenity fellowship AA meeting with my brother Chris who is in the AA program. He allowed me to come and walk in. I was expecting a little more of a mental health therapy setting but it was set up actually really cool to make everyone feel comfortable. It was emotional seeing my brother and everyone talk about their situations and what they have been through and what they’re going through. I saw people from all walks of life talking, praying, struggling to make it through the meeting.
The one thing I noticed is that everyone plays a part and my brothers part was he was the coffee maker with a commitment for 6 months. He made coffee all throughout the meeting and kept tending to it. Others were the secretary for 6 months and others had other tasks for 6 like months like handing out and collecting books and after 6 months they switch up. My brother said that he liked that because it gave him something to do and to feel like part of a family and get that support. He aid that this was his second family.
