This project is designed to help you get a better understanding of the dynamics of countries outside of the United States. The first part of the project will have you take an in-depth examination of the environment of a country. The second part of the project will have you will serve as a consultant to a company that operates in the United States. Your job will be to help them understand how the country they wish to enter.
These are a list of things that you should include in your country analysis (at least 5 topics):
– Legal system – Political system – Cultural differences and similarities to the United States – Economic characteristics (Including, but not limited to tariffs, currency, exchange rates, GDP, PPP, etc.) – Foreign direct investment rates and issues – Key industries and trading partners
The second part for the company you are consulting for. You should examine (at least 5 topics):
– Human resource management issues and practices – Strategic entry decisions – Type of strategy that the company can use in that country – Risks of doing business – And if possible, how is the industry of your company performing in that country (check stock exchanges, competitor financial reports, etc).
For this project I am using the company called Collective Clothing this is a clothing store located in Chattanooga,TN. The only topic you need to discuss is the strategic entry decisions. Using this topic write 2 pages discussing the strategic entry decisions will be used to expand the company to the country Switzerland. You must use statistics about the country that will help benefit the brand in Switzerland.
