1. Prompt 3: Explain the different types of Acute Renal Failure and which type Mr. Fallbrook falls under.
The 3 different types of renal failure are, prepranal failure including causes that reduce the blood flow to the kidneys. Then Renal failure including those that are caused by diseases of the kidneys.
Then Post renal failure is caused by obstruction of urine flow from the kidneys. This obstruction maybe at the level of the ureter or at the level of the outflow of the urinary bladder. Mr Fallbrooks falls under pretense because he’s not at the very bad stage of ARF yet. Since his infection led to sepsis, then hypotension occurs. His blood vessels dialated lowering his blood pressure.

Prompt 4: Explain the different types ot dialysis and how they are used.
There are 3 main types of dialysis.
In center hemodialysis. -the blood is removed from the body through an access point. The blood is then filtered through an artificial kidney, or dialyzer, and returned back to the body through the access point. The blood is filtered many times during treatment to remove wastes and maintain the body’s chemical balance.
home hemodialysis. – two needles be inserted into the patient’s vascular access to allow the blood to flow from the body to the machine and back into the body. Patients on HHD are trained to insert their own needles or to have their care partners insert the needles.
peritoneal dialysis. – A soft plastic tube (catheter) is placed in your belly by surgery. A sterile cleansing fluid is put into your belly through this catheter. After the filtering process is finished, the fluid leaves your body through the cathete.
2/Prompt 1: Explain in detail the pathogenesis on how Mr. Fallbrook’s gastroenteritis leads to sepsis and then ARF.
Mr. Fallbrook’s body was first exposed to E. Coli with the contaminated meat from the food truck. Then, his body reacted to this with inflammation of the stomach (gastroenteritis). This kind of inflammation leads to sepsis (systemic inflammation of the body in response to a pathogen or infectious agent). These inflammatory reactions caused vasodilation in his blood vessels. This led to extreme hypotension. Hypotension causes a decrease in blood flow to the kidneys. This ultimately resulted in acute renal failure.
Prompt 4: Explain the different types of dialysis and how they are used.
There are two kinds of dialysis. These are hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Hemodialysis involves the use of an artificial kidney machine. Blood is pumped out of the patient to the machine. Then, the blood is returned to your body with the use of attached tubes in your body. Peritoneal dialysis is the administration of dialysate, which constantly enters and exits your belly to act as a natural cleaner (“Peritoneal dialysis,” 2023).
