Zoos are part of our community as well as important for animal conservation. For many city-bound humans, the zoo is their only chance to see wild animals. For many animals, zoos are their last safe haven because of human destruction of their habitats. This is a good opportunity to explore our community by visiting our local zoo as well as to view the primate members of the zoo through a new lens. Feel free to apply everything we learned in our primate chapter and our enrichment reading book to this project.
Step 1 – Observe
If you cannot visit the zoo, then you may use one of the zoo cams listed below.
Note: Zoo cams are only operational during the day, so depending on the time of day you complete the activity you may need to visit a camera in a different time zone.

eport on your observation
Write a 1 page (double spaced) descriiption of what behavior and interactions you observed in your chosen primate
Find out more about the primate species you observed.
Use the “Primate Factsheets” assembled by The National Primate Research Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison:http://pin.primate.wisc.edu/factsheets
For the primate species (or genus) that you observed:
Describe its geographic distribution, habitat, and diet.
Describe two unique anatomical traits.
Describe two unique behavioral traits.
Identify its larger taxonomic group (loris, lemur, tarsier, New World monkey, Old World monkey, or ape).
Explain how its traits justify its classification as a member of this taxonomic group.
Include a picture!

Find a youtube video of your chosen primate.
Write a paragraph descriiption of the video. Include in report.
Find a peer-reviewed journal article through the school library https://www.library.losrios.edu/resources/databases/, about your chosen species (if you can’t find your exact species genus relatives are okay too)
Fill out an Article Review Form Download Article Review Formfor it.
