This week we explored the growth of bacteria and archaea. These organisms are almost ubiquitous throughout our environment.
As living organisms, they face the numerous ways that have been developed by both their hosts—and scientists—to combat their ability to cause infection.
Nevertheless, drug resistant microorganisms are a growing global concern.
Step 1: Consider the prompt
In this discussion, we’ll document the threats as well as the causes and remedies associated with different drug resistant microbes. For this discussion, you will need to select a drug resistant microbe to (briefly) research and report on.
Select one of the drug resistant microbes that are classified as “urgent” or “serious threats” by the CDC (or one that is discussed in your eBook).

Read up on your microbe, using the CDC’s microbe-specific websites and PDFs.
Address the following questions in an audio or video post of 2-3 minutes:
What is the drug resistant microbe you have chosen?
What drugs are your microbe resistant to? Is it multi-drug resistant?
How does your microbe spread?
What kind of infections does your microbe create?
How lethal is your microbe? How are cases trending?
Why has your microorganism become antibiotic resistant?
What is being done by medical science and others to combat your microorganism?
What can we do as consumers to combat its spread?

Step 2: Post your reply to the forum as an audio or video file attachment or a link
You may use any software capable of recording audio or video. Your file format should be accessible to most devices (e.g. .mp3 for audio or .mpg for video).
