Week 2 Discussion Instructions and Requirements DISCUSSION BOARD INSTRUCTIONS:
This week, we have four (4) forum topics to discuss. Each time you sign on, here is what you are to do:
Read all the posts. First and foremost, this is a discussion. It is a conversation among members of the class. In order for it to be such, you have to read what others post.
If you wish to comment on the topic, click “Reply” at the bottom of a classmate’s post and begin your post. You should not just repeat the same thing the earlier poster said. Instead, aim to continue the conversation, bringing in new material from the book, other sources, and your personal experience.
You are required to post at least three (3) times during the week and each of these posts needs to be a significant contribution to the conversation.
The posts should say something.
They should expand the conversation and integrate course readings or other resources.
They should pose thoughtful and interesting contributions to a continued discussion. In other words, agreeing with and repeating what the prior student posted does not count 🙂
The other thing that does not count is if you don’t read what others post and simply start a new thread and say the same thing others have already posted.
DISCUSSION BOARD REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of three (3) posts is required this week. Post 1 in any 1 of the 4 forum topics. This post should fully answer the questions using concepts addressed in the readings and examples to support your understanding. You are highly encouraged to post your initial discussion response early in the week in order to give others a chance to respond to it. Minimum 250 words, please include word count.
Peer Reply 1 to a classmates’ comments in a forum topic different from your Post 1. Consider responding to a peer who has not yet received any feedback from any clasmates. Your response should significantly further our discussion. Remember to do more than just agree or disagree with your classmates. Support your ideas with details, examples, and quotes (cite your sources as well). Minimum 150 words, please include word count.
Peer Reply 2 (minimum 150 words, please include word count) to a classmates’ comments in a forum topic different from your Post 1 and Reply 1. Consider responding to a peer who has not yet received any feedback from any clasmates. Your response should significantly further our discussion. Remember to do more than just agree or disagree with your classmates. Support your ideas with details, examples, and quotes (cite your sources as well). Minimum 150 words, please include word count.
Proper academic writing is expected. Remember: material from the assigned reading and lessons needs to be included and citations need to be provided at the end of the post along with the word count.
You must complete your main post discussion and two (2) peer responses over three (3) separate days in three (3) different forums.
Keep in mind that if I respond to your post by Friday of the active week and ask you to explain or clarify something in your initial post, you should plan to respond to that post as well, as it is likely to earn you more points for initial discussion. Posts to me do NOT count as peer responses.
