Sometimes parents can be skeptical of play therapy, worrying that it will not be helpful to their children. Therefore, therapists must be able to articulate to parents the purpose of this intervention and why it is effective. For this week, create a handout for parents that include the following:
Basic theory behind play therapy
Overview of what will happen in play therapy sessions
Benefits of play therapy
Since your target audience is parents, use language that is non-technical and easy to read for the lay population. Present information in a simplified format such as bullet points or charts, with only a few paragraphs on more detailed concepts. Include images and/or graphics to make the pamphlet aesthetically pleasing. Any course materials should be cited following APA guidelines through in-text citations and a reference list (can be included on one of the back pages of the pamphlet).
Search for at least three additional references relevant to the topic and use them in your brochure. Please include the referenced resources as part of recommended readings in the brochure.
