For the assignment, please describe one piece of history around you and, if possible, include a picture as well, especially if it is a monument, historical marker, etc., though this is not required. Your post does not need to be long (approximately 1 page/250 words), but write enough to explain the item that you are addressing and what you learned about its history. Please be sure it is written in complete sentences and is grammatically correct. If you conduct online research, be sure to cite your sources internally (parenthetically) and in a works cited.
*Important Note: Because they are so well known already, you cannot do the Battleship Texas/San Jacinto Monument or the NASA Space Center.
Grading Note: This and all short-essay response discussion boards are graded on three criteria: Content, Format, and Grammar. Your response should thoroughly answer the question(s) with accurate historic information, should reference the relevant document(s) in your response, and should be well-written with proper grammar and syntax and approximately 100-250 words.
