This week, you read about reading and reading problems, factors associated with reading disability, providing instruction and intervention strategies, integrating reading and writing, and providing literacy instruction for students with special needs. For this discussion, pay attention to the issues that affect literacy instruction for students with exceptionalities. Also, consider research-based instructional strategies which improve literacy skills.
For your main post,
discuss how literacy relates to your role as an educator. What instructional strategies have you utilized or have knowledge of to promote literacy for students with exceptionalities? What areas of weaknesses were targeted? As a special education specialist, would you promote multisensory methods to more effectively teach literacy to diverse learners, and why?

Initial or Main Post: You are required to make an initial original post to the discussion board prompt. Make sure your initial post thoroughly addresses all parts of the discussion prompt. Your comments should be clearly and concisely stated, demonstrating that the content was appropriately reviewed and synthesized. Include in-text citations and references in APA format. Etiquette/Quality: All postings should be appropriate, cordial, and professional. All postings should use appropriate language in the areas of mechanics, usage, grammar, and spelling.
APA Format: References must contain all APA reference information. In-text citations should be used correctly. Quotes should be used minimally and appropriately with quotation marks, citation, and page number.
