Special Programs Presentation – Please read to the bottom! For this week, you will take your learning from the previous weeks and create a presentation designed for the professionals on campus you will serve when you are an educational leader. If you need extra time to create the presentation, please feel contact the instructor prior. Create these presentations with your dream goal in mind, whether that be a principal of a high school, district curriculum coordinator, etc., and create your presentation in a way that fits that career. There is no specific presentation format for this assignment, so you may choose from a video, slideshow, a flyer, or another medium. Your presentation should be accessible to colleagues of all abilities. Make sure you represent the audience or grade level that you are gearing your presentation for. Choose two of the following topics for your presentation, but do not choose your collaborative project topic. College, Career, and Military Readiness Counseling Social Emotional Learning Restorative Practices Health and Human Services Academic Preparation and Intervention Early Childhood Dyslexia Services Topics to Consider Including (which may or may not apply to all topics) Who is served by the program? How do students qualify for the program? (This may or may not apply) What does the program provide to students? Which teachers and/or staff members help to coordinate and/or support the program? What types of curriculum, interventions, and/or instructional approaches might be applicable to this student population? (This may or may not apply) How will you monitor and/or evaluate the program? (This may or may not apply) What are two mistakes people make working with students in the program, and how could they be avoided or remedied? (This might instead be applied to the mistakes parents or students make as well in their understanding or assumptions about the program) Use at least one or two peer-reviewed articles, websites, and/or resources from material other than the textbook. To obtain a higher score, you must incorporate information from at least three (3) sources. See the rubric for more information. If you decide to do a video, here are the instructions You will make a video of 8-10 minutes in length for this week (no longer than this!) with a more streamlined visual aid. You may use a PowerPoint presentation, Prezi, an infographic, a website, activities for the teachers to complete as you present, etc. as an aid to your video. To make a good video you should dress in professional attire, be professional in appearance, consider the background in the video, and have a well-lighted face (not lit from behind). Excellent audio is the most important feature It is recommended that you research and follow good presentation rules so you do not overwhelm the viewer with too much on any single slide. The presentation is a visual guide with most of the information coming from what you say in your video. *IMPORTANT: Your presentation must be accessible to colleagues of all abilities. Presentation images must have alternative text for accessibilityLinks to an external site.. If you will be using video for your aid, then it must include captioning. And if using audio, it must include an accurate transcript. Please see the UNT Audio and Video Captioning pageLinks to an external site. for more information. If you decide to do a PowerPoint presentation, flyer, or something else, please utilize the directions from the previous presentation explanations! *IMPORTANT: Make sure you represent 2 programs!
