You are the project manager for ‘MyMath Portal’, a project that aims to develop an online course to
teach Mathematics to school children aged 9 – 12 in Saudi Arabia. Below are some project specifics:
• As per the Ministry of Labor regulations, working hours must not exceed 8 hours per day.
• The weekend is Friday and Saturday, and the duration is from 20th Dec 2024 – 21st Jan 2025.
• All workers will have a holiday on 31st Dec 2024.
• Any overtime must not exceed 50% of the normal working hours and must be paid at a 1.5 times rate.
• You only have two full-time resources; Zaid Shahid – the IT technician, and Talal Adel – the education specialist.
• You need a consultant that charges SAR 400 per hour with a cost/use= SAR 150.
Program MS Project to perform the following:
1. Create the project, fill project details, and create an appropriate project calendar for Saudi (with due
consideration to the working hours, weekends, and the holiday).
2. Develop and implement a suitable WBS for successful completion of this project. The WBS must include a
minimum of 8 tasks appropriately named, project summary task, and at least: one summary task, one milestone,
recurring tasks.
3. Mix manual and automatic task types, link all tasks using any of the known task interdependencies; try to use
as many as you can.
4. Select two tasks to implement SS type interdependency relationship.
5. Choose appropriate tasks to demonstrate usage of lag and lead concepts (explain your approach on the
provided blank sheets).
6. Create a part-time calendar for the consultant.
7. Add project resources using the three types (Work, Materials, and Cost).
8. Use the consultant two times for total of 6 hours. During each visit, this consultant will travel from Jeddah and
stay for one night at a rate of SAR 550 per night.
9. Calculate the total cost of the project, what is the most expensive task, which is the most expensive resource, if
the tasks are 50% completed, what is the remaining cost.
10. Assign Mr. Shahid to two tasks with a lead (used in step 5). Explain what you see. Use the equation W=U x D to
correct this situation and explain your approach.
