Journal entries should be roughly two pages long. They will be evaluated on the following criteria:
Addresses the question(s) in the journal prompt fully
Integrates your own ideas and experiences
Demonstrates critical thinking by linking your ideas and experiences to vocabulary in the book with citations from the book.
Presents at least one lesson or implication about communication based on your reflections
Meeting each of these criteria requires that your ideas be clearly organized and carefully worded, with proper spelling, grammar, and syntax throughout.

Think of a disagreement you have with another person.
Describe your side of the issue.
Now describe the other person’s perspective.
What role do stereotyping, self-serving bias, and people’s tendency to focus on the negative play in the conflict?
In terms of communication, what might the other person have said or done to display more empathy? What might you have said or done?
