This week you will be submitting your topic proposal. Your topic proposal is meant to ensure me that your research topic is relevant, and will be enough to complete an 8 page final project paper.

Introduction: Your first paragraph is the introduction. The introduction must accomplish the following:

Introduce your topic
Provide a summary of the problem your paper will address
Discuss the main ideas or points you would like to present in your Week 8 paper

Relevance: This section of your topic proposal is where you explain why your research is necessary, the literature available on the topic, and how it relates either to the fire service as a whole or to your own fire service organization and community.

Arguments: This section of your topic proposal is where you will discuss the main arguments and counter arguments on the topic, and where you will try to convince the reader to support your position. A compelling position paper will have arguments for and against the topic. A strong position paper takes a stance on a topic where people can disagree. Without arguments, the position paper would be boring.

Conclusion: The conclusion will briefly summarize your topic proposal and reinforce your research’s stated purpose.

References: This is the last page of your proposal. It serves as a listing of all references that you mentioned in your paper. Please use APA 7th Edition style when completing this list.

1. Two (2) Full APA Formatted Pages (This does not count the title page or the reference page)
2. APA 7th Edition (Guides located at the bottom of this page)
3. Word Document (Use Microsoft Word only) (Do not submit a PDF or a Pages document)
