Explain how it can be used to support the skill. ANECDOTE #1: Emily walks through the door with her mom. She seems happy to see her friends. She says “Hi Teacher, I got a new backpack”. She turns to her mom and says “See you later” and joins her classmates in circle. OBECTIVITY: SKILL/INTERPRETATION: ACTIVITY: ANECDOTE #2: Michael is in small group math with two other children. The teacher hands each child a piece of paper with different numbers written on it. Michael’s paper has the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. She also hands each child a pile of bingo chips and asks them to represent each number. Michael is interested and looks at the teacher as she speaks. He then begins to put 1 chip under the number 1 and 2 chips under the number 2. He smiles and asks “like this, Teacher?” OBECTIVITY: SKILL/INTERPRETATION: ACTIVITY: ANECDOTE #3: (focus your interpretation on Samantha) Samantha is sitting at the Toys & Games table with another child, Anna. There is a tub of LEGOs in front of the girls. Samantha choses some LEGOS from the bin and starts stacking them on top of each other in rows. One row has 5 LEGOS, one has 7 Legos, and one has 12 LEGOS. She then lines the rows up from smallest to biggest. Anna also choses some LEGOS but is sorting them by color. Samantha looks at Anna’s pile and says “you have a lot of red!”. Anna smiles and says “I do!” OBECTIVITY: SKILL/INTERPRETATION: ACTIVITY: ANECDOTE #4: Jariel is sitting on the floor playing with a foam mat that has 10 holes in it. He has a bin of plastic pegs in front of him. He picks up a peg using the pincher grip and inserts it into one of the holes. He is having a hard time getting it to stay in the hole so he tries again. This time gets it right. He tries again using another beg but cannot get it to stay. He gets frustrated and dumps the pegs on the ground. OBECTIVITY: SKILL/INTERPRETATION: ACTIVITY: ANECDOTE # 5: Aaliyah and Hana are playing nicely together in dramatic play. Aaliyah suggests that they play restaurant. Hana agrees. Aaliyah says “I will be the waitress and you be the customer. Maybe you can order the pizza.” Hana looks sad and says “ I want to be the waitress” but she sits down at the table anyway. Aaliyah hands her a paper and says it is the menu. Hana looks at it and says “ I guess I will have the pizza.” Aaliyah is holding a note pad and a paper and writes some messy lines on the paper and a few letters.
