Final Assignment: Art in Your Personal Life
Worth 25 Points
In the final assignment, you will take a closer look at the artwork which surrounds your daily life.
Some examples may include: posters, prints, or wall art in your home or workplace, decorative objects in the home, community art such as murals or statues, art made by yourself or a loved one, postcards/greeting cards, album art on records, or religious or spiritual art. This is not a constrictive list and I encourage you to be creative in what consitutes art in your daily life.
You will need to identify 5 objects/artworks/images for the final assignment, photograph them, and compile them into a slideshow or Powerpoint according to the guidelines below.
You will need to include:
1. A slide featuring a form of ID (Student ID, driver’s license, etc.)
2. A slide for each of your 5 items (5 slides total) which all include (a) a photo of the object, (b) a physical description of the object or image, and (c) how or where the artwork or object fits into your life.
The physical description of the object/image may include color, form, or content included in the object or image. Try to use vocabulary you learned in the course!
Example: (slide 2) (imagine there’s an image here) The first object I chose was the album cover of Lucy Dacus’ 2021 album, Home Video. The cover art depicts a semi-lit movie theater, narrowly lit by an incoming ray of sun coming in from the top left corner. The color of the theater curtains and seats is a faded burgundy. The theater’s large central screen is a solid cobalt blue, with a white outline of a VHS cassette tape in the center, referencing the title, Home Video. In the audience foreground on the right, Dacus’ face is blurred as she turns toward the viewer. This artwork fits into my life because it comes up on my Spotify app when I listen to this album.
Final assignments should generally be 6 slides long. It is ok if they are a little longer, but they should be at least 6 slides.
