Collection of 3 Annotated Bibliographies using the topic ” Prenatal Development ” Then you’ll identify a question you would like answered, a research question if you will, that will help you hone in on what you are looking for in the research. What and How type questions work well here.
3) Find three studies that address an element of your research question.
Layout: The first paragraph is the paraphrased (in your own words) summary of the study, hitting those specific elements of the goal, hypothesis, participants, methods, and results. It should summarize the main gist of the study to include; a brief description of the purpose/goal/hypothesis of the study, the participants (who, how many, etc…), how the study was conducted (methods section), and the results. DO NOT use the study’s abstract. It all should be in your own words as if you were explaining “this recent study you read” to someone. How would you explain/describe it to help that person understand it, in a professional voice? Then the 2nd paragraph will include your critical thoughts about the study (e.g., methods section) and the topic itself (any aha – lightbulb or hmm – curiosity moments?), AND how it specifically answers/addresses your research question. Make sure you are descriptive and expansive. The source/study should be after the year 2000. Participants need to be humans, not animals, reptiles or insects. Avoid case studies, meta-analyses, or literature reviews which I breakdown in the instructional video. These will not give you the information you need to adequately address the above prompts. No direct quotes, in either paragraph. Everything should be in your own words. Here is the link to the Purdue Owl website specific to citing studies: Citing a Study APA
Format: The final three (3) annotated bibliographies should be submitted as one document (not 3 separate files, only one file) in either .doc or .pdf format. All three will be connected to the research question that you have identified within life-span psychology. One annotated bibliography per page, 400-word count for each AB, meaning you will want to use the page break feature in Word to present each AB on its own page (see sample in AB resource folder).
