A power point presentation on Caffeine-Related Disorders. The final presentation

A power point presentation on Caffeine-Related Disorders. The final presentation on a DSM-5 Diagnosis is an opportunity to bring the diagnosis “off the page”,
which will hopefully help you and your classmates better understand how the diagnosis looks in the real
world. Feel free to be as creative as you would like in the process.
The main requirement is: Make sure that your presentation is about a specific DSM disorder, not a
Diagnostic Category or a Z-Code. You’ll provide us with the Name of the disorder and the Diagnostic
Code at the beginning of the presentation.
Other specifics:
• You will have 10-12 minutes for your presentation. At the start of the presentation, let us know: 1. Why you selected this disorder and 2. What is
the main idea of your presentation- what do you want us to learn?
• In class we have walked through the basic criteria for each diagnosis; although you should
briefly remind us of the criteria and demonstrate your understanding of it, your presentation
should go beyond that. Here are some examples of new information that you might provide for
us:
o Examples from movies/tv shows/books of characters with the disorder.
o First person narratives explaining the day-to-day experiences with the disorder. I would
discourage you from using yourself or a family member as an example for privacy
reasons/consent- if you are thinking about doing this, please set up a time to speak to
me first.
o Treatments that are used to help manage the disorder (e.g., medications, therapy
interventions)- what this looks like, why/how this works.
o Any notable gender differences in presentation of the disorder.
o Any notable changes in the Diagnostic Criteria over the course of DSM revisions.
o Any interesting information that you’ve learned that goes beyond the DSM-5 Criteria.
• I strongly encourage you to use PowerPoint and/or other visual aids for your presentation.
