For this week’s module we are reviewing the “end of legalized slavery”, the enactment of Jim Crow, plus the continuing resilience of the Black/African American population in the U.S.. As such, this week’s post is focused on Jim Crow and how key it was to racial formation in the U.S., how the remnants can still be felt today in our systems of power (federal and state laws, prison, education, finance, real estate) by people of color, and how despite all of this, there was a significant amount of resistance shown by the Black/African American Community. Please discuss (in your own words) on this post what effects you feel Jim Crow had to racial formation, our systems of power, plus what type of resilience was shown by the Black/African American Community. Then respond to at least 1 post from your peers and your response must be substantive. You can amplify a point made, raise a related point, make connections to other class documents, agree, or disagree (in a constructive way) with supporting evidence, and/or raise informed questions that we should all think about. Post response by Friday and peer responses due on Sunday by 11:59 pm.
