Use at least 5 sentences to express your thoughts about the topic and use understandable regular vocabulary that isn’t difficult. Though artificial intelligence (AI) has been around for a while, it wasn’t until the spring semester of 2023 that it made a significant dent in the world, infiltrating all sectors, including education. Granted that there are multiple ways in which students can use artificial intelligence wisely, it has, unfortunately, taken the role of plagiarism, wandering into high-stakes assignments such as reports and exams. Students have justified the plagiaristic use of AI in many ways, while instructors have felt betrayed and discouraged. I want us to take the time to discuss learning in the era of artificial intelligence. More specifically, I want us to discuss:
the potentially questionable relevance of learning, and if relevant,
how we can positively incorporate artificial intelligence into our learning experience. Things to think about: How do we talk about learning at a time when we can externalize our knowledge? Why should we learn, despite our access to seemingly infinite intelligence? Should we still learn and, if so, under what circumstances? And how can artificial intelligence optimize our learning experience without it becoming a plagiarism issue?
